Where to start - newbie

Can anyone help. Because I can't BUY UK maps here in Australia for Medion PNA 315 - MD96210 - (Medion doesn't know when they'll be in!!), I'll have to 'force' my GoPal to run TT5 or 6 and use a TT UK map (we'll be driving in the UK next month). Confused

However our PNA315 only seems to be covered on forums in France and Germany and I can't get a start-on. I've managed to get the task bar up by substituting it for the MP3 player, but TT install fails.
Can ANYONE please help me find what 'clone' to start reading about on this huge forum to try?
From what I've found out Woolworth's UK is now selling these Medion PNA315 for GBP129.99 - I just paid $349 here but can't get the map for UK/Europe.
ANY help would be appreciated - I've got 3 weeks. Thankyou Wink

Hi Barry23,

I'm in the same boat, except I'm looking for the European Map.

I would suggest emailing Medion UK, they however will only deliver to a UK address. They may be your best bet.

The last time I check they didn't have the Version 2xx in stock, but I would imagine that they may have them in now.

Medion Australia suck big time, they should rename there product support to nohelpline.

Anyone who can help me aquire the European Map (Italy & France), I would be very much appreciated.

Tried Medion nohelpdesk again a couple of days ago "none in stock, "don't know when" "don't know who to write to"...!!

UK - NO LUCK - I have been emailing backwards and fwds to Medion UK who are prompt and helpful, they said to purchase from their Medion Shop (UK) but I had to write to them and let them know that while Woolworths UK have the PNA315 on sale with UK maps inside, their shops only have Europe Spain and USA maps and you can't purchase a "local" UK map!!! They're gone away thinking for the past few days........... hummmm, do you think that somehow they don't WANT to take my $AU170 somehow!! I can't even BUY a map. Although the GPS works well, I wish I'd bought a TomTom as my nephew did.

A female neighbour is also trying to get a UK map for her forthcoming vist to the UK and has been equally frustated by the "..we know nothing" Medion Aus phone "support" - she's also annoyed with me because I recommended getting a PNA315 (MD96210)........... let me know if you find some way of getting a UK map out of Medion - I can't even convert it to TTom as I don't know where to start!!

If you go to my site download my custom Flash disk Medion 210 version3 flash disk.zip Instructions included.(make a backup of your flash disk first before you use then once installed and working. I can point you in the right directions for all the maps of europe

Thanks Fatslag - I downloaded applications to gain control of my PNA (noted NO MAPS where you posted ?) and now backing up before running a first test. I'm having lots of fun learning and getting to know the inside and WinCE (even managed the other day to rename showtaskbar to photoviewer to explore inside!
Can I test this new software by just droping my original .psf map in 'map regions' (for a trial around the place here)?

Yes mate you can try your own maps. Please note there are no maps on made public my site for download as stated in the link removed only my own custom made flash disk

It's 2212 hrs here and still backing up My Flash disk contents with 18 mins to go! The interface MUST be USB 1!!

I like the apps and the demo picts - I have to truthfully state that your link did not have any maps on it at all

I've had a hard day and will install the new software tomorrow Sunday morning and try it with the map that came in my Medion.

Well Fatslag your software looks excellent!! After two installs I found the following:
1. Albania displays but GPS never locks on, after a cold, soft or hardware / 'factory settings' reboot - it is always RED after 20 mins (normally 3min) & either cannot read the sat rx OR a southern hemisphere problem with a norther map??! Anyone experienced a hemisphere change on the wrong map?
2. I put my orig supplied Australia map in, but I wasn't given the choice to select it - so,
3. I cleaned flash disk & reinstalled the software again with ONLY the Australian map and the error message says "not supported"? Reinstalling the orig software from a SD card works again, phew!
4. Where to now? Crying or Very sad

While I feel confident that I can reinstall the old Medion software this new version looks great, but no workiee. So now that I'm confident this far is there a post to try TT software on this PNA315. Still not closer to using it in the North of England in two weeks time.

I found this map (and about the only .psf I could find) on a site that shows how to change from a Medion to TomTom and back by converting Pois - this is what I have been trying to do all along convert the GPS to a Tom Tom- it was shown as a small size "test map" I put it in where my Australian map was.
At least I know that the application for the medion - from the other gent works.

Do you know if a GPS can read northern hemisphere maps when positioned in the southern? Or maybe this a map that only is for display demo purposes.

Do you have any idea where I could buy a UK map - noone has replied yet to my original request yet and I note someone else has not had a reply? The GPS Passion site has lots of search hits for PNA315 but in French - with no success fron the UK or Australia Medion help desks I'm willing to try Paris.

I think you mis-understand why i asked about the maps.

Any software kit that is required to convert your Medion that requires the use of unlicensed maps and a KeyGen (both of which are in the kit you were prompted to download) hardly seems legal.

I'll have a look later to see if maps are available but if you are having difficultly it would suggest the answer is no.
