I've just opened and set up my first GPS unit - a TomTom ONE V2 (From Amazon UK). I've got it all set up and working great, apart from the mount which is annoying me. It is extremely tight on the unit itself, and it takes a lot of force to get it on, and even more to get it off.
I am guessing this isn't normal, but what should I do? I don't particularly want to return it to Amazon for a replacement, because it's just a mount. Should I try contacting TomTom directly? |

the mount is quite a tight fit. firstlly you are slotting the unit on to it the right way round? sounds silly but i struggled to see which way round it went at first.
it will ease up a little with regular use. i ffind the best way to remove it and leave the mount in place is to push it upwards with my left thumb whilst holding the top with my right hand. (mines mounted lower right of windscreen).
also unit will stay in place even without forcing the unit hard into the mount, so making removal a one handed job.
others will tell you, you should remove the mount as well for safety purposes, in which case leave the unit attached to the mount as one. |

Yes, I am slotting it in the right way round (although I did wonder the first time I used it )
To be honest I think that the mount is too tight. You can't even get it fully connected without using extreme force. I'm using it today, but as you suggested I will only be putting it in as far as it can go (it's steady anyway).
I've emailed TomTom to ask if they can send a replacement mount. If not I will probably end up buying myself a dashboard mount.
Thanks. |
