|
|
Hi,
Have an earlier TomTom Go device which was running V4 application. Made a backup of the orginal card on a 2GB card and then upgraded it via TomTom Home to the latest application. Think this was v6.52 which seemed to go through ok. Restarted the TomTom unit, and now it doesn't seem able to find the GPS signals. After waiting 10 minutes it still hadn't found a signal. Trid resetting the unit, but no difference. Inserted the orignal card with v4 application, but still can't find a GPD signal.
Has anyone got any ideas? I was wondering if I need to use GPSfix with the latest update, but I don't think it is available for the original TomTom Go device?

It can take some time at the first new fix. It might be that 10mins is not enough.
Have you taken it outside and put it on the top of the car, with a clear view of the sky?
If you have it showing the GPS Status Screen you might have some idea of the progress it's making.
Do you see the satellites display, in grey, and are they nearly at max 'volume'? How many, and are any going Blue? _________________ Richard

Hi - thanks for the quick reply. Haven't tried the unit outside yet, but will give this a go later on, only tried it on first floor near the window. I did change to the GPS/Satellite status screen, and in 10 minutes it hadn't found one satellite last night. Might try resetting it holding the reset for 30 seconds to see if that makes any difference. |

Don't forget the Classic GO only has a Sirf II chipset and so is not as good at picking up satellites as the more modern units. _________________ Richard
