Hi all
I am about to buy a second hand Garmin Nuvi from ebay in germany. Wouldn't this be pretty styraght forward? Or will I have to listen to roaddirections in german forever ?? It will come with 33 countries.
Is it easy to change the preloaded maps from germany to UK?
Regards

Changing the voice is easy and will cost nothing. If the Nuvi currently only has German mapping then changing the mapping may be more difficult and will cost money. |

Excellent thanks. It will come with a disc containing maps of 33 european countries, so changing the maps would be easy (and free) - right?

new maps cost around £45 from garmin. what modle nuvi is it?
300/310 are 'region' only (eg uk maps, or germany maps)
350/360 are full european maps
660/670 i can't remember but thin they are full europe?
changing the languages is easy really

I am shopping for a 300. Goes at 200 - 300 euros in germany.
Was also considering a 250 - but prefer the slightly wider screen |

Hi,
It's worth a Try. I recently got a Nuvi 350 from ebay. The issue I had was that it came with v8 maps, and the previous owner had registered the product. I had to get them to notify Garmin that they had sold the unit so that I could order the update DVD.
Also the SD card was missing. Can Anyone tell me what I'm missing?
For less than €200 i'd look at a refurb unit:

At least it will come with a warranty. |

Nothing; a 350 dosn't come with an SD card. You can add one if you want additional storage for mapping or MP3s. |

sigh - it's hard being a cheap git trying to spare a few quids.
the refurbed offer is quite good indeed, still I think I will try watching german ebay taking the chance. Yesterday I missed an auvtion for a 300 which went at 102 euros. bloody cheap. |

apart from the missing SD (which werent missing) is the 350 good then? And what do you need the extra memory for?
How much did you pay for updates to maps? |

The disks are free. It is the unlock code for the particular unit that costs money. Does it have an unlock code? |

Luckily as the original owner had purchased in Feb, the update was free. Otherwise the cost is $75 US, so about £40-45.
The unit has 2 GB standard, mostly used by maps and standard programs, so I just assumed when the seller mentioned a missing SD card it must have had ssom of the travel kit or language guides on it. I still have all the sample travel guides, etc, so I'm well chuffed at my £88 Nuvi! |

at £88 you can't really go wrong can you? well done. Was that ebay.co.uk?
Perhaps I better let the germans have the own gadgets and start looking around here. I seems not that good a deal anyway.
Still - it looks like I will be needing the 350, as I really need the european maps.
Thanks |
