Hi folks,
I've just got my tomtom go 510 today, and I want to back the files up from the original memory card onto a new one. So I've got a brand new Kingston 2 gig card that is a decent spec.
When I copy the files from one card to another (ensuring view all files is activated) and copy them to the new card, when I insert the card I'm being asked to activate the map again.
Any idea why this would happen?
Regards
Neil.. |

When I copied my card I had to activate it, this is what TomTom say.
Manual activation
In some cases you may have to manually activate your software. In this case the product code and the device code generate a unique activation code. Enter this code on your device.
Go to www.ttcode.com to obtain an activation code for manual activation.
Just put in your Product code and your device code, at the web site, and it will give you the activation code, put that in, and away you go. I supose it stops people copying their SD card and selling it on Ebay, as the device code would be wrong for the activation code, or something like that. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

That's the whole idea of the software protection.
If you make a copy on a new card, the system will want to know it matches the hardware you own and that you haven't passed it on to someone else. |
