You can only use maps designed specifically for the GARMIN device - i.e. the Mapsource maps provided by GARMIN.
I don't know if GARMIN have Topo mapping for Austria for their other hand-held mapping devices (eg GPSMap60 etc). Generally; the nuvi range of devices aren't designed to do topology mapping. _________________ Phil |

Thankyou philpugh sorry I'm late in responding.
It loks as though giving up on the project is best
I will have to stick with paper maps on my austrian adventures.
I will mourn the loss of the £60 i spent on austrian map fly
I suppose at my age 68yrs I should return to the 20th century and stay there.
(One last try though,) I want a Large screen Like the NuvI 200w.
It must be compalable with Maps 1-50,000 Alpine regions of AUSTRIA
as long as they have English versions.
It dos'nt need to talk, it dos'nt need to detect speed cameras & it dos'nt need an MP3 Player.
Any ideas on the devices & the Maps?

You may want to take a look at OziExplorer. www.oziexplorer.com.
This would mean getting a PDA to run it on - for out and about - or simply plan youroutings on the PC and print off the map areas you require.
I don't know what format the maps you have are in (?Geotiff) but there is a good chance that this can read them.
Go to the web site and download the trial software to see if it can handle your maps. _________________ Phil |
