Sadly not, this unit does not support such a facility. There are methods to get the data onto new DVD's on some systems that have colour displays (no alert though) but not for yours with the LCD display on the unit itself sorry.

This is not strictly true.

POI can be loaded on via supplementary CDs. Of course, they are limited by memory.

For mainland Europe - because Becker are bigger over there - they offer Speed Camera data on CD.

They also offer extra speech/announcement voices, maps of the Alps/Ski resorts, Michelin star restaurants etc.

And this will work on a single DIN unit that has only a small LCD display with no visible map, only turn arrows etc?

Weird, I thought I'd added some text in my above post: Google for "Blitzer Radar Europa CD".

This Speed Camera POI CD works for CD-based Becker units in mainland Europe.

Of course I am assuming that the Freelander comes with a Becker Traffic Pro, just as my Renault did. From what little reading I have done, I understand this assumption to be correct.

after reading your edited post, here's how it works on a Becker Traffic Pro

"Example scenario:

1: Normal navigation mode. You are at, for example, the Robert Schumann bridge in Hamburg, in 700m you will leave you bridge. During the trip sounds a loud beep, to a speed trap 200m ahead at the end of the bridge.

2: Coinciding with the beep the current speed limit appears on the screen for some time, exceeding this limit should obviously be avoided!

3: 200m later you see the stationary speed monitoring system, but the driver knew beforehand of the speed trap because of the alert.

Version 7 or newer of the Becker Traffic Pro software is required."

Interesting and thanks for the clarification. I wonder what format the data has to be in, is it some undocumented manufacturer specific format or something we could produce our database in?

I have long wondered that.

I have version 3, 5, 8 and 9 of the maps, a German voice CD and would be happy to buy a copy of this POI CD should you have somebody who can reverse engineer it.
