Just got the unit and am having trouble mapping a route. Can someone explain to me what is the best way to map a route. I am going from Philly to NY and don't like the route it suggested. I now how I want to go, but how do I tell it I want to go from point A to point B, then point B to Point C, ect... To be more exact I want to take I95 to 31, 31 to 202, 202 to 287.... What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks |

Do I have to know the names of the cities were the highways intersect? I guess I'll have to look up the cities. I was hoping there was a way just to enter the names of the two highways that intersect. |

You might need to tap "Show all menu options" in the menus, but it's definitely in the Main menu.
When you add points, you can choose "addresses" which then gives you "intersection" as one of the options, but yes you do need to know the cities. Or you can add waypoints by pointing to them on the map.
Or you can plot your exact route using MS Autoroute or even Google Maps or Google Earth and then convert them to an itinerary file you can load into the TomTom.
Use "Search" in this forum for details, they have all be discussed in the last few weeks. |

When you make your itinerary, use the 'Point on map' method of placing your waypoints. You have to zoom in very close to make sure that you have set the point on the correct lane of a big highway. (If you set your point on the lane going in the opposite direction, the TomTom will make you go in circles!)
Once you have created the list of waypoints, highlight each one and make sure they are classed as 'Waypoints', and not 'Destination'. Only the final item in the list will be the 'Destination' (a checkered flag).
You can now save your itinerary and call it up whenever you wish to use it. Please note that in order to test it out, you must have a satellite lock. |

If I make an itinerary will it just give me directions from beginning to end (of trip) or will I have to tell it I was at the first stop and want to continue on to the next stop? |

As long as you actually go through the waypoint you have chosen (or very near it), it will just send you to the next one. You don't have to do anything.
The important thing to remember is the zoom in to check that you are actually selecting a point on the road, and on the correct side of the road as well when there is a centre reservation (eg dual carriageway/ turnpike/freeway).
If you find an error after you have passed a waypoint, you can always select it and "mark as visited". But I've not had to do that lately. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Just remembered. Once you have the Itinerary set up, you can run the GO in Demo Mode to check out the first 80 miles.
One final thing. You don't need to put your starting point in the Itinerary. The Go knows where you are and will send you straight to the first waypoint. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
