We've finally decided to tackle the problem of the huge number of forums and the complexity of it all!
I've already begun by merging all the many and varied hardware forums for each manufacturer into one so discussions on a bluetooth GPS regardless of whose it is can all take place in the one area.
We've also cleared some older unused forums and merged Smartphone and PocketPC areas.
As we spend every day on the forums it's not always easy to see where problems lie so if anyone thinks something needs re-naming, moving or getting rid of post here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I used the search like all good users should do and found it.
I thought I was going mad - topics are everywhere but not in the same place.
You could have warned us in BIG LETTERS.
Just wait 'til DennisN gets back online. He'll........probably show us his teeth! _________________ RQ

This topic - in answer to your "Uh, found what?"
I thought there might have been a bolder annoucement about the tidy up. And, at first I thought it was just my memory playing tricks on me as the location of some of the topics appeared to have changed.
So - before posting a new topic onto the forum - I thought I would search.
And I found the answer to my question - you were moving topics around.
Does that answer your "Uh!" _________________ RQ

It does but you weren't exactly clear as to what you'd found, the New Posts function would have shown you the post, no need to perform a search! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren,
I have to admit I very rarely, if ever, go in to News and Information. So, whilst I might see New Posts - I won't go into that forum and read the New Topic.
A lesson for me I think. _________________ RQ

The delete may only be a temporary feature after a message has been posted, but I posted a message and when my browser showed the new message, it had "Edit" and "X" and when I placed my cursor over the "X", it said 'delete'.
I'll have a quick look after I click 'Submit' for this message.
Edited to say that the delete option is no longer available - but I did see it, honest Guv, just after all the forums had been jiggled around.

Hey! Look at mr stupid over there!
Ok! i'll take that back as I saw it too, but I don't think it's that useful.
Editing a post is one thing but being able to remove a post completely, well thats just wrong. If you remove a post while someone is writing a responce to it could realy mess things up here. _________________ Dom

I agree - I was a little confused too...
...but thought that this was so that an individual who had said something contravening forum rules could simply delete it quickly before anybody else had chance to read it
At least when you edit a message, it says that the post has been edited, how often and who by. _________________ Andy
