|
|
I have bought a new 2Gb SD card for my TTG 510. I loaded the navigator s/w and maps manually. OK. TT Home now thinks it is a 710 but everything seems to work fine. But on startup it does not play the "tom-tom" sound that it does with the original TT card. Anyone know where the start-up sound is stored and if that sound can be replaced by something else?
By the way, I noticed various posts about splash screens. I have successfuly used some digital camera pictures for both startup and closedown splash screens. Used GIMP2 to rescale them and copy them into the original splashw.bmp and suspendw.bmp. Nice. :D |

You only get the TT drums when you reboot, not at every startup. Dunno what it's called or where it is. _________________ Dennis

The drum roll is hard coded into the software. _________________ Richard

Also, to put your mind at rest, the TT 510 and 710 are identical hardware - only the supplied maps are different - so Home always identifies them both as a 710. |

not sure what happened to the drum roll, mine never does it since changing the splash screen. But then again, I'm addicted to splash screens. :D |

They must have tweaked something in the later versions of Home then.

As Dennis says, on a normal switch on you shouldn't get the drum roll. It only plays if the unit has had to re-boot from scratch for any reason (connected to PC, SD card removed etc.) |

It does it if you take the SD card out, then back in again. It did it on mine when I was fiddling with it, when I first had it, hasn't done it again. Don't go taking the SD card out when TomTom is writing to the card, in fact, switch off, before removing the card, but the TomTom is never off , even when you switch it off. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Thanks all for the information. Removed and replaced the new SD card and, right enough, a drum-roll...issue solved. :D |
