Enhanced POIs?

Hello,

I am new to the world of POIs but in the last few months I checked many of them and the kind of info they provide. They are very useful indeed but I was wondering if there would be a way to give more info about POIs.
For example, I am the owner of a landmarks guides website and I would be happy if I could add a short history of the monument you are passing by instead of just the name and rating.

Is that possible and useful? I hope to open an interesting conversation about it. Thanks.

the new garmins have a tourguide feature where as you pass a point it can display a picture and play audio related to the poi.

I was thinking of a similar thing, as you drive past a buillding or monument, you get a POI with a description.
It would be nice to have this function, even as a POI, but i dont think current tomtom's have the ability to display text or read aloud what it is you're passing.

Thanks Deus. That's exactly what I would like.
It would be nicer if there was an universal format but I guess it's not going to happen.

Check out www.geovative.com From there, you can easily create your own location POIs and associate audio, images, and text to each location. Then you can download the tour into a number of formats and devices, including Garmin iQues, StreetPilots, Nuvis, Zumos, as well as standard PDA/Smartphones or MP3 players.

This is about as close as you'll get to a universal format with support for a multitude of devices at the moment. For a full list of supported devices, click here.
