Just bought a new Sandisk 1 Gg SD card, whats the best way to load the software on to it. I have a TTG 510, if I put the blank card into the device it won't recognize it on Tom Tom Home and therefore I can't use the backup feature to load the card. I tried my USB card reader last time and copied and pasted the old card onto the new one, but it missed some of the files when copying on to the new card.
What way do most people use when loading a new card , thanks ? |

Had the same problem as you and have just read elsewere that you need to put the new card into your tomtom and whilst connected to your computer, format it and then try and then backup onto your new card. I will be trying this later on this evening and will let you know |

There's usually no need to format it.
Just do a COMPLETE dump of the original card to your PC and then copy it all back onto the new card. If done correctly, this will work straight away.
Full instructions are in the PGPSW TomTom FAQ's at the top of this forum!
#8 is the one you want (Quick link to it: HERE ) |

OK thanks, this is what I tried last time but copying and pasting to a new card seems to loose a few files on the way. |

You have to have Windows Explorer set to show all filesCreate new folder on desktop
highlight all files - copy
go to new folder on desktop - paste
reverse using new card
