My 710 came with various european cameras pre-installed by Tom Tom. I decided to keep the french ones on it for comparison with others I have. When connected to HOME, these POIs show as installed in my device, but when I try to edit warnings on the device, these POIs are not shown.

I have tried to look at the files using my computer, and the .ov2 files are there, accompanied by the relevant .bmp and they also have .ver files, which I am aware are used by HOME.

If I try to open any of the .ov2 files to view using POI Edit, it tells me that the files are invalid. My intention was to set up .ogg files to go with these euro cameras, but so far cannot. Any ideas how to view them or at least how to set up user warnings ?

It would appear that you can't view them, nor can you alter the warning sound or distance. All you can do is turn them on and off in "TomTom PLUS services, Safety camera warnings".

Thanks Tim.

How do they make an ov2 file which doesn't display as an ov2 file should ? Is it encoded in some way ?

It *could* be something as simple as the operating system looking for a particular name. What happens if you slightly rename one of their ov2 files? Does it suddenly appear in the POI list?

Andy,

I have copied them, renamed them, extracted them and stuck pencils up my nose whilst shouting 'wibble' but nothing works.

Laughing

Must admit, I didn't really think it would be that simple!

You can put any extension you like on the end of a Filename. It doesn't mean that it will work with the program associated with that extension.

As an example, try the dataxx.chk files and the Windows assumptions. ;)

I think what TT have done with the OV2 Files is change the Header Data and POIEdit, at the moment, doesn't know how to read it.

You can get them to be selectable in warn when near POI I did this quite a while ago, but if you select one it doesn't allow you to set the warning as it states no usable POI or something similar, I have a couple of screen shots I did at the time - I was thinking about writing it up for April 01 but didn't bother in the end. The clue is in the bmp file but you need to view the raw data that the icon is made up of and alter part of it - Not worth bothering with to be honest - Mike

I take it I will get some kind of default warning at a distance pre-set by my device ? I have tried the 'warn when near POI' but they don't appear there.

I don't mind getting more than one warning for the same camera.
