|
|
Here is my dilema,
I live in the US of A and am a frequent visitor to Ireland and sometimes UK. Now I pretty much know my way around and roadmaps from the AA are cheap and useful as they say.
My 530 is loaded with US data which I use frequently. If I get a copy of the European maps ie by buying or swapping my US maps for Europe ones. What is the process.
Has anyone gone down this road and any pitfalls.
Any info would be appreciated. |

Hi Navmannyc welcome to the forum.
As far as I know there are no pitfalls. Unless someone proves me wrong, as long as the data fits on the device it should work fine even with both maps loaded. _________________ Dom

Does this mean if I load the Euro maps I want onto an SD card just pop it in the receiver and Bob's you Uncle I can go between continents without loading reloading software.
Also is there a registration code involved in initially loading the new map data. |

Registration code is a must, which you'll get when you buy the maps.
Popping maps onto multiple SDs is a yes, but Bob has nothing to do with it! _________________ Dom

One hint on the SD Cards - They are small and easy to loose - if you are like me, and you have multiple cards, you can only every find the one that is in the device, which is often not the one you want. The others magically disappear when needed and reappear a short time later.
I have now taken to having one large SD that lives in my PDA. If I need more space I rationalise or buy a bigger card. (Currently using a 4 Gig card, I see 8 gig are avalible and possibly 16 soon.)
I don't kow if the 530 supports these large cards or not though. |

SD cards in the US are now very cheap - $15 for a 2 gb if you look hard enough.
And if my US maps stay resident on my machine with the UK IRL on my SD which will remain on machine I ont forsee any issues of losing card.
But I do get your point.. |

Just bear in mind that digital mapping of Northern Ireland is still pretty abysmal.
I don't know what the situation is in the Republic. _________________ Navman ICN 520
