Go back to original distribution and re-install from scratch. You will need to unlock the maps all over again as TomTom will spot it is on a different piece of hardware. So you will need to go to www.ttcode.com to get a new code. Be aware that there are limits on how often you can do this.

Sounds a dodgy one to me...you should have paid good money for a genuine copy. I have no sympathy.

Device Code + Product Code = Activation Code. You can only get the activation code from TT.

It happens all the time unfortunately.

Yeh, I agree but sometimes you make a mistake and I paid £40 thinking it was good software. Thanks for your support, Im sure you always buy the right software though!

Thats a bit harsh, not everyone has a full understanding on the rights and wrongs of software use.

I once got stung with a dodgy upgrade copy of Windows 98 when I was first getting into using PC's. I didn't know any different, there is no point berating the guy for making a mistake.

It is pretty good software and had the seller (scumbag) been honest and passed on the Product Code, you would probably have been OK. Although if he had abided by the EULA he wouldn't have sold it. Fortunately you only lost £40, many have paid much more than that only to find, like yourself, it doesn't work.

I always get genuine software now, as when I upgraded from Windows 98 to Millennium, many moons ago, I bought cheap and lost out. Once bitten, twice shy.
