Some strange new camera's have been placed on the A2 (or A102 Blackwall Tunnel approach) by the Sun in the Sands Roundabout. There are already Gatso cameras sited here, but the new ones look like 'Spike' cameras.
Can anyone confirm the purpose of these cameras ie Speed, Tax or plain old traffic monitoring??[/b] |

What are 'spike' cameras? Can you get a photograph of one? _________________ Tim |

None of the above IMHO. Spikes cameras haven't been type-approved as speed cameras yet.
Mainly they are being used as ANPRS cameras, either to pick up wanted cars or for general "Big Brother" style surveillance of us not-to-be-trusted citizens.
BTY - these cameras are already shown on the camera submission page, in the "we don't want these" category...

YET!
It won't be long before these find approval, at the same cost of a "Gatso" and a fraction of the price of a "Spec's" but doing the same job, i bet these go through fairly quickly.
Looks as if MaFt has picked the short straw on the database, "Spec's" type cameras with a start/finish and possible intermediate position look like the future and will possibly dominate the camera types. _________________ TomTom Go 60
