A number of 236 devices have suffered from loss of the Bluetooth, these all seem to have been from imported units, I have two supplied from the UK and both are still working fine. Where did you get the faulty receiver from? and how old is it?
The one you linked to will work OK, it just depends what you want from it the QStars or iBlue devices are worth considering offering nearly 30 hours use from a full charge - Mike |

Hi,
Mine was from the internet site: www.pdamods.com
£80 and I bought it on 06 June 2006.
I have had it from then until about 3 days ago when I through it in the bin.
It started just loosing the bluetooth one in 10 times.
Then increased to every journey on and off intermittantly.
I tried the comman techniques to get it back working and they were effective to a certain extent but it was only a matter of time.
And most recently just wouldn't come back on at all unless I had the full case off and was bending the pcb.
There was no way I could find the specific track to re-solder so I just gave it up as a bad job and binned it.
When bluetooth was working the Holux was great and never struggled for a signal.
What does the "QStars or iBlue devices" mean?
Do you have any links for more info please?
The help is much appreciated,
thanks john |

It is a very good unit and well worth considering, although purchasing from e-bay can lead to problems if the device goes wrong, not all sellers are poor with after sales service issues though, its just easier to deal with a known shop or supplier at times - assuming the device is still within waranty, which the 236 clearly wasn't.
Shame you put the 236 in the bin though as they can still function via a suitable interface cable to some devices even with a dead BT radio (not the Mini-S though, as that doesn't sport a true serial port) - Mike |

Which one is a very good unit mate... the MTK chipset one?
Yeah, I wouldn't have chucked the Holux Slim if I'd had know it could have been used wired... could have strapped it to my laptop!!! |

The Qstarz unit is the one I meant, you must have posted the second link as I was typing. Have a read of a review of the same device you are considering Here - Mike |

Actually forget the small holux or navicore, I've read a few bad reveiws, seems the battery can be a prob and getting a fix can be a prob as well so not gonna risk it.
Back to the QSTARZ.
The review sounded great but does anyone on the forum own one or has seen any other reveiws? |
