NAVTEQ Announces Release of First Turkey Map
Premier Map Provides Seamless Coverage from the Middle East to Eastern and Western Europe
NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has announced its first release of digital map coverage in Turkey. The new map covers a population of more than 13 million, includes over 1,000 administrative place names and contains over 28,000 kilometres of navigable roads for the cities of Istanbul and Ankara.
The major highways, secondary roads, and arterial streets in these cities have been verified against 615+ validation rules and conform to NAVTEQ’s standard global data specification. This attention to detail provides customers with a high quality dataset and allows them to use the data immediately with other NAVTEQ maps. The map also contains connector roads throughout the country, creating links between Turkey’s largest cities and to Bulgaria and Greece.
“The addition of the Turkey map provides a seamless connection between Europe and the Middle East where we have extensive coverage,” stated Mary Hardwick, Vice President of Product Management Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Because NAVTEQ provides maps in standard formats using a single data specification, customers will be able to easily integrate the Turkey map into their regional solutions providing users of navigation, wireless location-based and fleet optimisation systems a continuous corridor of coverage from Oman to Portugal and Norway.”
NAVTEQ has the largest single database specification coverage in the Middle East including, along with Turkey, maps for the following countries and territories: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudia Arabia, and U.A.E.

You mean Cyprus, never heard of Crypus ;) Although the new map coverage in Turkey is welcomed, it's essentially only Istanbul and Ankara with zero coverage of any of the holiday destination areas or indeed much coverage anywhere except Istanbul and the capital. _________________ Darren Griffin
