NMEA 0183 v3 v. NMEA 0183 v2 ?

Hi All,

I have been using TomTom 2.24 on my HP2210 with Globalsat BT308 until I dopped the latter (BT308). Now, I am looking for another bluetooth GPS receiver which would be quicker/better experience with more channels....and I am considering i-blue 737 but looking into specs of that it says that it NMEA v3 compatible, whereas I cannot seem to find this in my tomtom (which goes to NMEA v2) so the query is :

a. Is NMEA v3 backward compatible ?
b. Is there a way whereby I can get to upgrade my TomTom to give me a choice of NMEA v3 (without a product upgrade)?
c. Am I stuck with NMEA v2 (probably buy another Globalsat BT308!) ?

NMEA V3 should be backward compatible with V2.
