Is it possible to avoid minor (B) roads on TomTom one? I used to be able to select preferences on my Navman for types of road but it only looks like I can select avoid motorways on TomTom.....any ideas?
Thanks,
Justin :D |

Using quickest will avoid most, but not all, B roads. _________________ Richard

Been using Quickest but it's constantly taking me down single track roads even farm tracks at time! Not much fun in a 17 tonner! :-( |

Not doubting you but Quickest shouldn't be doing that. Having it set to shortest will however send you down some shocking roads |

I'm not a Trucker, but give it a try and see what it does. _________________ Richard

The problem is many B roads/single track are rated at the National speed limit i.e. maximum 60 and will take preference over a dual-carriageway with a 40 or 50 limit. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Its a complete bodge, but if you buy a country map such as Poland, with the Main Roads of Western Europe, it will only have the main roads in UK. Using that map to navigate around UK will avoid all the little tracks, and you then switch to the UK mapping when you are very close to destination, to get the last bit at street level.
I also use this for navigating from UK to Spain, as this again sticks to main roads throughout France and Spain, until I get close to destination. |
