Mio C520t - Traffic Events

I have just bought a Mio C520t, having previously owned a Navman iCN530 with a T1 TMC unit. The Mio has a far superior TMC reception, but there is one problem with the Mio that I cannot find a solution. The Mio can be set to sort events by distance or type. When the Mio is switched to show nearby TMC traffic events, it shows all TMC events and not just those on the route.

Hence my two questions are:

1. Can the Mio be set to receive TMC traffic events only on the planned route?
2. How often should the TMC events be updated when 'Nearby TMC Traffic' is showing? Mine only appears to update every 10 to 15 mins. However if I press the TMC button (red triangle) it updates immediately.
