Hi to anybody out there who might be able to assist - I am new to this game...
Just bought TomTom 1 (Europe) and want to download under the POI heading - Caravan Club sites, supermarkets - we like to eat while on holiday - and a couple of other useful ones. It appears that the files are downloading into the TomTom HOME file but when I connect the satnav to my PC using the USB cable provided in order to transfer the data to the satnav, the message on the screen indicates that no files have been found. What am I not doing - or doing wrong?

It's only the Camera Database that has the facility to download Files that HOME can understand, and use.
For the POIs you just download the ZIP File to your PC. Unzip the File and you will have an OV2 and a BMP File for every POI Category.
You then have to copy both of these Files to the Map Folder. Do this for each POI you have downloaded.
Remember there is a limit of 100 Custom POI Categories with V6. _________________ Richard

Thanks for your prompt reply. As suggested I have unzipped the POI file which then reveals three files, e.g. for ASDA it has asda.asc an asda bmp file and asda.ov2. You say copy to Map folder. Where exactly do I find this? Apologies if this is obvious but this is all quite new for me. I know how to copy files on my PC but don't for the moment know where this Map File is that you refer to ! Thanks in anticipation.... |

You need to be connected to the PC. Close HOME and open Windows Explorer. You should see the TT as a Removable Drive, the last one in the Drive List probably.
If you Click the Drive Letter you should see the SD Card contents on the Right Side of Explorer.
The Map Folder might be called Western_Europe, or something similar. This is where you copy the Files to.
I don't know where the Asda.asc File came from but it doesn't come with the TT download for Asda.
You just need the OV2 and BMP Files. _________________ Richard

The .asc file is a text file (ascii file to be precise) and can be opened with notepad.
It doe not need to be loaded onto the TT - just the .bmp and the .ov2 _________________ RQ
