Australian Maps

I am living in the UK and will shortly be returning to Australia so am looking to obtain Oz maps for my iCN 520. I noticed on the Navman.com website in their on-line store they sell 2006 version Oz maps for GBP 99 whereas on the navman.com.au site the on-line store has a '2006 Australian Map Upgrade - iCN500 Series' for A$179. I am assuming that to use the upgrade I would need to already own or have some older version Australian maps installed?? Can anybody confirm this for me please?

Given the past discussions an statements about upgrade pricing, I would find it incredulous that Navman (and others) would sell maps that were a true upgrade, requireing maps to have been purchased previously.

The standard position of Navman is that map data is not discounted when upgrading from an old version (of the same country etc) because the license fees they pay to TA are the same regardless of whether you have previously purchased maps.

I would email Navman Tech support and check before paying though.
