When i download a poi catagory for example ATM, all seems ok. I then unzip the downloaded file but all it contains is a single file. Their is no BMP icon file an the downloaded file will not open in poi edit program.
Does anyone know what is going wrong? |

Hi,
I 've just downloaded the ATM poi without a problem. A few questions to help us solve your problem.
What satnav equipment do you have?
Which did you select?
Are you using IE or Firefox?
Did you click on the link box next to download?
Single file or all files? _________________ RQ

Hi RQ
My satnav is a tomtom go 300
I am using IE
I download the speed camera updates all the time without any problems.
When i attempt to download the POI i do the following:-
1. select satnav system "TomTom"
2. select country "UK"
3.select poi "ATM"
i have even tried just ticking one subcatagory
The following i have tried in all combinations, 4. How should the files be created?
Separate files per subcategory
Combine subcategories into category file
5. Show Link either ticked or unticked
The file downloads the zip file ok and is named POIs.zip
When i unzip this there is only one file created called POIs There is no bmp file for the icon.
As i have already said, this file is corrupt and cannot be opened with poiedit program.
Hope this helps |

When i unzip this there is only one file created called POIs There is no bmp file for the icon. | The number of files, and their names, depend on how you downloaded.
1. If you tick the ATM box, it automatically selects all tyhe ATM POIs.
If you leave the Default Option selected for Separate files per subcategory, inside the POIs.zip File will be a pair of Files, OV2 and BMP, for each subcategory. ie. Abbey.ov2, Abbey.bmp, Barclays.ov2, etc.
If you select the Option to Combine subcategories into category file, you will get just the ATM.ov2 and ATM.bmp files.
2. You can expand the ATM selection and select from 1 to the maximum, of the subcategories. This will contain similar files as per above.
In a normal download the POIs.zip doesn't contain any other Files. Certainly not a file called POIs.
When you selected Show Link did you get directed to a page with just 2 Links on it?
And finally, not that it should make much difference, what do you use for an Unzip program? _________________ Richard

Oldboy,
I tried the download again today and although i didnt do anything different, (honest), when i unzipped i had both the correctly named ov2 and bmp files and not the corrupt file named POIs. I have no idea what was going wrong as did exactly the same thing as i had done over and over again. |
