Hi,
My problem manifests itself when using TomTom, but I'm assuming it's a Pocket 2002 problem...Im using an ipaq 3950 with Navigator 2.
When I try to start TomTom, I get the message 'Cannot determine location of data. Reinstall data and/or application.' First I reinstalled TomTom, with no effect. I then put the map data on a different sd card, still no effect. (I checked the cards on my pc. The original card would not show up at all..the second card was fine, but the pc couldnt read the data..presumably the wrong format) Just out of interest, I got Pocket Mechanic, and asked it to check the card..it couldnt find one.
Finally, I installed a 16mb map direct to the pda's memory, and it worked fine. I also downloaded the sd driver upgrade from Microsoft, so no avail.
When I click on Memory/storage card in Settings, the storage card shows up as 6.59 MB, with 'iPAC file store' as the only option on the drop down menu
I used to have the same problem on my 3970,and what i had to do was soft reset with SD card removed and then insert card for tomtom to read the map data and work.Installed latest rom (2.10) and SD card driver update, but original SD card packed up and now have a new one.No more problems !

I'd start by trying another SD card if you can.
If you can't borrow another SD card, or another card doesn't work, I'd start by trying a hard reset with no SD card inserted. If that doesn't solve the problem, reinstall the ROM you're using (if version 1.11, make sure you've installed the SD driver update - if version 1.10, upgrade to version 1.11).
If that doesn't solve the problem, suspect a hardware issue on the iPAQ. In that case, you may still have some warranty - check with HP. I know HP have my iPAQ 3970 listed as having a 2 year warranty, even though I didn't pay for an extended warranty. (I found this out when I had to send it in for a warranty repair to the speaker).
