Hope someone can help me please.... For some time I've been using a Medion MD41800 PDA running WinMobile 2003 (Version 4.20.0 - Build 13349) on a Samsung S3C2410 processor. This pre-bundled with a wired GPS receiver and running Medion Navigator V3.1a (2004). To reduce the wires, I've just bought a SPECTEC SDG-810 receiver that slots into the SDIO (com4) port. Thing is I can't get Navigator to recognise this new receiver. When I change GPS Config to select 4:Spectec at 4800 the application just seems to lock-up. Spectec have provised an alternate driver, but installing this and selecting 4:ARASAN SDIO-UART Driver just gives a similar lock-up. Can anyone help please... its driving me bananas!!!!! Do I need a OS upgrade, a different driver or a Navigator upgrade or are are these devices just plain incompatible? |

I believe the settings for the SDG-810 are 9600 baud.
I have this receiver running with Navigator 6 on two different IPAQ's. After loading the driver, the SDG-810 shows up in both the Bluetooth and other NMEA device lists. Under either setting, you should see the Spectec GPS as an option. If you don't see this as a selection, you likely have the wrong driver. I had the same problem. I made the incorrect assumption that the latest driver posted on the Spectec web site would be best. After deleting the driver and reinstalling from the mini-CD that came in the box, all was right in the world.
Good luck!

Thanks Bubba...very good of you to respond. However when you say Navigator 6, do you mean TomTom (since I'm running MEDION Navigator). I've tried what you suggest regarding drivers, but no luck. I suspect I need to replace old Medion Navigator software with TomTom to get it working.
Note I also have an iPAQ h4150... but on that PDA it doesn't even recognise that the micro-SD card exists in the Spectec device, let alone recognise the GPS!!! Think this may be because the 4150 runs PPC2003 (I think!!) |
