Noticed "Doc" seemed to have created a "zip" file back in 2004/2005 for French Campsites for TTOne from "jollyinteresting" Autoroute data. Tried to download it but seems to have been deleted.

Anyone else able to help? Have been able to convert the .axe file but have only ended up with lots of POI numbers relating to each of 3400 sites, no site names or addresses on TTOne. Could TT1 be able to display the info, anyway?

Thanks all.

You say you've converted it, so do you now have an ov2 file? If so, have you looked at it on your TomTom, or tried loading it into something like POIEdit?
It could well be just a list of positions with no other details...
Have you got a link for the .axe file so we can try it?

Downloaded .axe file from "jollyinteresting.co.uk" - down the bottom of page.

Downloaded the file and then opened it - can't remember how; ahhhh!!!

From here had to convert into xls - edited out the "France" column and then converted it into ov2

Ended up with
POI 213 Lat Long
POI 1266 Lat Long...... on TT1

but none of the Campsite Info was there.

Have since printed out hard-copy of xls which gives the details
of POI 213 etc. with site details (3400 in all) but would like to have info on TT! if poss.

What do you think?
Confused

When you have downloaded the Zip File. Unzip it to give you an AXE File.

Then use POIConverter to change it directly to an OV2 File.

You will then have the campside POI, containing 2659 locations, all with meaningful names. ;)

They are all located in the UK, not France.

You must have downloaded the wrong file - at the bottom of the page is a section named "French Campsites" - this is where the download file is situated - click on "Download".

PS - sorry - forgot to add - POIConverter does not convert .axe files - it can create them - but not convert them - AFAIAA.

Didn't scroll far enough. Embarassed

Unfortunately when the OV2 is generated it shows each location name as France. ;) And there are 3604 of them!

I understand why you used a spreadsheet now. POIConverter only uses the Name Part and not the Information part, which is what you will want..

I'll see if I can work something out. The Name Part won't contain all the informatio as there is a limit to what you can put into a TT POI.

Appreciate any info - site name, location, phone no: would be good - have read somewhere that 18-20 characters is max tho' - but don't know.

By the way, you're right - remember now - used POIConverter to convert the .axe file!! Ahhh! Smile

What a star you are Exclamation How impressive is that Question
She (HI) is so proud of me; I told how long I worked to get it sorted out Twisted Evil

Just kidding, seriously, Oldboy, you are the business - we are well pleased, thanks.

Now all we have to do is visit all the spaces using the GPS points and fill in the blanks - NOT.

Dare we ask how you managed to truncate the info without going thro' each entry? Please tell us you didn't edit each one!!

Regards
Us Cheers!

Nearly! ;) It took about 10 hours. Embarassed

Some of it was automated, but most was pure editing, because of the free flow format of the information.

It made a change.

By the way, I didn't check the accuracy of the locations. Laughing
