What I would like to know,as this will be my first use abroad.
Will it matter what voice to use?

Just use any voice you can understand in the language in which you are fluent. The idea is you can take your device anywhere and get local navigation instructions in your own language. There are American voices if you want to sound a bit local. _________________ Dennis

I'm interested in this. I'm off to France in September and will be taking the nuvi along for the ride! It's going to be interesting to see how the TTS voice handles the French pronunciation - could be even more difficult to understand - but at least we will know that there is a turn coming up! _________________ Phil |

Well the GO910's TTS works rather well speaking turn instructions in your language whilst pronouncing road names in the native language.
It even made a good attempt to Welsh place names! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yeah! The nuvi 660 does OK on Welsh names also. Being 1/2 Welsh (father's side) and living 20 miles from the North Wales border with frequent excursions that way, I forget that it's a foreign language! I am expecting the French names to be passable - probably a lot better than my French (or Welsh) ![Laughing](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ Phil |
