Not navigating

I've just purchased a TomTom One Europe and think it's great ....... with one proviso. Surely it's possible to have the unit simply display where I am as i drive along without the need to be navigating to a place? I'd like this since it would be handy to have the unit alert me to speed cameras and not tell me to 'turn left', 'turn right' etc. when i'm driving in familiar territory where i know a better way than TomTom knows! I've tried setting the start up configuration to go to the menu which it does. i press done without setting any navigation but it still wants to take me where I last went! How do I stop it doing that?

Welcome to the forum, you need to un hide the "Clear Route" option so it is visible in the menu, go to change preferences/ show All menu options, confirm the selection with a Yes and Clear Route will become available.
To make sure you still get Speed Camera warnings without a route actually planned make sure when you set up the warn when near POI for each camera category that the Warn only if POI on route is NOT selected, this way you get warnings with or without a route planned - Mike
