Hi

I am a new user of GPS systems and I just bought a Magellan 2200T for travel in the USA. Seems to work fine so far although I find that I need an expanded POI database as I travel frequently and find myself in need of more local information.

Wouldn't it be great if you could download POIs from the local phone directory company. :-)

Included with the product is a POI manager so I can load POIs to the unit from my PC.

The first questions that spring to mind are
What are a good websites to download POIs ?
If you find and upload them to the 2200T what hapens to the factory supplied POIs, are they lost ?
Once you have uploaded new POIs can you remove them should you decide that the file does not work properly?

Can you upload updated maps and system software (ie manufacturers updates etc ) ?

Thanks Smile

you can get POIs from a number of websites (including ours). A good source is poisinusa.com (from our partner site GpsPassion).

The factory supplied POIs are not lost.

You can remove your custom POIs again if you don't like them

software updates are normally free of charge, for map updates you have to pay.

Your Magellan is a "dumb" device and most probably not upgradeable.
