|
|
The PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database has just been updated to include a new database for Garmin SatNav systems. This is a Garmin GPSR Map overlay and works with some of the older Garmin GPS devices such as Garmin StreetPilot 26xx series, eMap, the Garmin Quests, and the Garmin iQue 3600.
To download and install the Garmin GPSR speed camera database simply select "Garmin" for the SatNav system from our speed camera download page, then "UK - GPSR map overlay" for the camera selections. this will download a zip file with the installation instructions in the readme.txt file.
Our thanks go to Walter Wright for his assistance in creating this new database compatibility for us. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Well done!
Should you turn this into an "Announcement" so it doesn't get buried? |

Any chance of a comprehensive list of compatible models before you get flooded with questions like "Will it work with xxx"?
Thanks.
Oh and will it work with an i3? |

Sorry, it was a tongue in cheek comment! We're in discussion with Walter about this issue right now. However, can you temporarily disable Norton whilst you install the package? _________________ Darren Griffin

I don't think this is anything to do with having the previous version installed. Its Norton AV objecting to the fact that the install script runs a little VBScript which installs a shortcut in your Start / Programs menu. Hardly malicious.
I propose we go off-line while we work out how to get around this, then announce the solution back here. I''ll send you a PM.

The i3 is one of the newer Garmins which can be used with the POILoader software. This is a better solution than the map for those units. I think however that you could still load the POI map instead if you wanted to. I believe you would lose the facility for being alerted when approaching cameras though.

Due to changes made by 'Wired' the installation now works with Norton's AntiVirus.
Thanks for a valuable alternative for Garmin units
The overlay is installed on my iQue 3600 and GPSMap 60CS. |

Ok, I have created an updated version of the .msi file which does not suffer from the problem encountered by Strumble. (I have received word from Strumble that he is now able to install the map without problems). Hopefully, Mike or someone else from PGPSW will post an update here once the new version is incorporated into the download system. The new version is 4.044.10, and this should be displayed on the first screen when you double-click the .msi file.
Incidentally, if you intend to use this map and you have installed an earlier version of it, (i.e. maps originally downloaded from my own website) you should uninstall the older version first using the Add/Remove Programs function in Control Panel. You will not need to do this on a month by month basis though, i.e. once you have moved to the PGPSW downloadable maps, you can just install over the previous month's.

Is there any way that the units (i.e. 2610, iQues) can be set up to give Audible as well as Visual warnings |
