Can garmin 310 take 360 firmware

Hi i just got myself a nuvi 310 (as my medion 175 got nicked) and i was wondering if te only difference between the 310 and 360 was that it says street names can i run the 360 fw on my 310

Just to add I've downloaded the firmware and there is nuvi310_360.exe for the 310 and nuvi360_370.exe for the 360 is this a ploy by garmin to make you think that the 310 and 360 are the same fw.????

The Nuvi 310 and 360 actually use the same firmware file (although they do have two versions to download, one for each model to make it simple).

However, the firmware works out based on the hardware whether or not the unit should be allowed TTS support, so even with the 360 firmware, you will not get TTS support.

A warning though - installing a firmware from a different unit than the correct one may permanently damage the unit, and may invalidate the warranty, so not something I would ever recommend trying.
