I read on here somewhere about TomTom offering a free upgrade to the map version 6.56,
People were sceptical as i was but after replying to their automated responce which waffled on about people travelling in various coutries data and how much things changed,
Today they do apologise and offered me a free upgrade to the version that came out on the 17th of this month,
so anybody who bought a tomtom after the 17th give it a go,i did and as long as you can provide a recipt and product number of the card which if new shouldnt be a problem then they should upgrade you,
carnt gurantee it but as long as you stick to your guns then i dont see why not,
they tried to fob me off with technical waffle but sense provailed,
Cheers all. :D |

I bought my v2 version 3 weeks ago & I too am a bit peeved that it is out of date already.
I emailed TomTom support & they replied that if I had maps version 6.6 they would "look into the possibility of having an updated map added to my profile" but if I had anything earlier, tough basically!
Unfortunately, I have version 6.56.
My question is this:
If I tell a porky & say I have 6.6, will they know? |

You need the Map version. _________________ Richard

I wouldn't bother. From what I can gather 660 is probably the best build.
The only major thing the 660 doesn't have is the new Extended Congestation Charge Zone. _________________ Richard

Received an email saying that they have added the new maps to my Plus Services free of charge.
Not sure whether to download them now as seems to be differing opinions! |

For information - I've also successfully requested a map update from Tomtom. Bought my One Europe from Amazon last week and it arrived with ver.660 maps. Sent TT a friendly e-mail saying that I wasn't exactly pleased at having a product that was out of date before I even switched it on, and could they possibly let me have the up to date maps. They replied asking for my product code, which I duly sent to them - and a couple of days later I had a message from them to say that they'd credited my account with a set of ver.675 maps. Result.
The thing is, the more I read on this forum about how much of a step backwards the new maps are, the less I think I actually want to install the update .... |

I just bought and downloaded the v660.1219 map on the 19th of march, and a new one comes out a month later? Why dont the maps come with free updates like the software does? |

Simple answer, because TomTom have to buy them.
But please let's not go over this all again, it's been argued to death in the forum so many times before. |

hi,
I have also managed to get tomtom to give me the new UK maps for free, by moaning a bit via the questions part of my tomtom on their website
only took 2 mins to do..so its well worth the time constructing the email...

I got my upgrade today. Politely explained I was annoyed at the fact my maps were out of date within a fortnight of buying my ONE, was asked for a scan of my receipt and the serial number, and today got the upgrade for free. What is the difference between the old and new maps to warrant such a difference in size anyway? |

They're bigger as the new v675 UK & ROI map also includes the major roads of Western Europe. So it's now about 230Mb instead of 110Mb.
I got a free update from TomTom as well. No questions asked, didn't have to provide a receipt or anything like that. They just asked me for my product code, and within two days the free v675 map download was added to my TomTom Home account.
I guess they're so fed up of people asking for them that they're just handing them out without too much fuss now?! |

I asked the question about a map upgrade as I'd bought mine from Amazon two weeks ago only to find it's the older map.
I sent them a message through "My TomTom" and received a reply stating I'd get a response within 24 hours. Still waiting.... |

Check your My TomTom account, it might already be there. They added my map after about 2 days, but didn't get round to e-mailing me to tell me they'd done it for about a week! |
