Hi

I am having some problems with my GPS system.

It has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair with constant soft resets to get the GPS signal back. It has worked in the past though.

At the moment I am not receiving any GPS signal at all. Is there an option/tool to boot the GPS receiver? I find it very frustrating to sit looking at a greyed out screen and not having any options to try get a signal. The light stays on constantly on the mouse but I am not getting any response from Tomtom.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

Your problem may be that you've selected "Haicom GPS" in the TomTom GPS screen - or, indeed "TomTom Navigator GPS".

Whilst these settings appear to work, they send SiRF configuration commands to your GPS - and your GPS is Evermore chipset based, so it won't understand SiRF commands.

If you go into the GPS screen, second tab, untick the box, select NMEA 0183v2 4800 and COM1:, then tick the box, does that help any?

Dave,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this does not work. I have that driver selected but I am still not getting a response.

I have downloaded and installed GPSDash but when I try to connect it tells me "Failure to open COM port 1".

I am at a loss.

Cheers
Rob
