I'll cut to the chase on this question, has anyone found a way to enable TTS on the 510/710 with any of the TMC updates yet? I quite like the traffic being read out.
Or does anyone know if TomTom have plans to release TTS on any other devices other than the 910? I'll pay money for the privellege
OK... off you all go... you can now give me the right & wrongs and why I'm so bad at asking such a simple question . . . . |

If you want TTS with a TomTom device you need to have the 910, since the arival of the RDS-TMC the software has been fixed so only the 910 can use TTS and RDS-TMC, if you desire this functionality then a 910 is the only way to Go (no pun intended) - its all down to the license - Mike |

Yes, yes I know its all down to licensing but from a simple technical point of view we all know that TTS works perfectly well with all x10 units and also the non TMC traffic service.
I'm just trying to push and have it working with the TMC firmware.
I'd also be interested to know if & when TomTom will release a GO 710 Delux or Enhanced ? If you check your online profile you will see it listed as:
TomTom GO 710 standard GO 710 software
Maybe one day the Delux will include TTS? I can only hope ? |

Even if a 710 deluxe did come out you wouldn't have access to TTS on your current 710 as the old 710's didn't have a licence for TTS.
It's well known that this site frown's upon piracy of any kind. Getting TTS to work on anything other than a 910 is piracy just the same. |

Andy has beaten me to it. Loquendo got very annoyed when people started sharing the TTS voice hence the belated introduction of a patch to lock it to the 910. TomTom pay a licence fee for each system it is deployed on and so any discussion of circumventing this is not welcomed here. _________________ Darren Griffin |
