Hi Guys
I've dropped a clanger.
I backed up my SDCard from my PocketPC before having TT5 upgraded to TT6.
I knew I could copy my old POIs over to the new setup so I thought I had it covered. Only after the new installation was complete did I realise that I had lost my favourites. I have had a look at my SDCard backup folder and I can see all my POI categories that I had accumulated but I can't see my favourites anywhere. Are they in a special file and if so can I retrieve my favourites using POIEdit?
Looks like I've shot myself in the foot again
I'd really appreciate your help, guys. |

I have scanned my files using a general file scanner and found that my favourites are embedded in a file called Great_Britain-Map.cfg but the file has a lot of hex characters. If I understood how the entries are stored I could use my hex editor to hack out the bits I need so if any of you techies know the layout of the POI entries can you let me know, please?
Regards

I dont know if TT5 map config files are compatible with TT6 but if you make a backup of the new map.cfg file you mentioned above, you can then try to copy and paste the old one over and see if it works in TT6. You'll probably have to change the file name to match the TT6 one you backed up.
If that doesn't work then you can try putting TT5 back on and convert your favourites to pois from within TT5. Then its just a case of copying over the OV2 file you have created into TT6. |

Thanks for your help, guys.
I checked out that link and found it reassuring that it confirmed what I thought.
Anyway, I took the decision to reinstall TT5, copy the favs to a new category called Fav and copied that to TT6 after I reinstalled that.
I was panicking a bit there because I had several POIs for work that I really didn't want to lose.
Thanks again for your help.
