Hi,
I've stuck the dashboard disc supplied with my Nuvi 660 in my car but, the unit wobbles a bit (not the fault of the mount - the dashboard panel is wobbly!). I've decided to go back to the windscreen mount.

I now want to remove the disc which is stuck fast with what Garmin says is 'permanent adhesive'. Any ideas on how to remove this disc without damaging the dashboard?

Cheers.

I managed to remove one last summer when it was very hot by gently easing a knife with a thin, blunt blade under the disc. Maybe heating it with a hair dryer would have the same effect on the adhesive as the sun.

But don't blame me if you try it and it doesn't work!

Unfortunately, the clue is in "permanent" - it's not designed to be removed. However, you may be able to prise it off, although this may result in the disc itself becoming damaged.

As I understand it, it is easier to prise the car away from the disc!

As Anita says, try heat treatment and a blunt knife - worked for me when I changed cars last year.

Hair dryer on HOT setting, apply hot air to the gap betwixt disc and dash and with a blunt knife start levering disc away. It'll come off in a jiffy. It's permanent but not that permanent!

With great difficulty — hence the DIRE WARNINGS about fitting it in the instructions.
