I am looking for a TomTom cable for my TomTom Go which is longer than the one I was suppied with in the box. The reason for this is that I want to wire it into may car in a different way than it is wired in now.

Does anyone know the availability of such a product!?

Cheers,

Tom

If you look on the Maplin's website you will find:-

1. a curly extension lead, or
2. a socket you could wire in behind your dashboard

Is this the sort of thing you are loking for?

Regards

To clarify: the cables and socket referred to by RQ are extensions for the cigarette lighter socket NOT extensions to the DC power plug on the end of the charger lead.
The extension cable looks like this:

and the socket like this:

Finding extensions to lengthen the DC plug end is much harder as there are so many slightly different sizes of the plugs (both overall diameter and diameter of the centre pin).

You could, if you were prepared to cut the lead, extend the cable from the cigarette lighter adapter to the DC plug, but you would have to be careful to keep the correct voltage polarity (+ve on the centre pin). You would also invalidate the guarantee.

One thing you mustn't do, is try to do away with the cigarette lighter adapter altogether, as it contains the circuitry to drop the car's 12 Volts down to 5 Volts for the Go.
