How fast is the 660 at refreshing the screen?

I am not convinced in the demo's I have seen that it is "bearable".

to be honest none of the garmins i've used have a superfast refresh rate however, they ARE certainly bearable.

If you are following a route the refresh/update rate is more than adequate.

If you are just using the map function and driving around there can be a pause of a couple of seconds at junctions whilst it sorts out which road you turned up. This is down, in part, to the unit not knowing which road you will have turned up until it gets a position that allows it to lock onto the road you have chosen. However as you haven't plotted a route one would assume you know were you are going and don't need the navigation part of the system Smile

At the end of the day these units are intended to be an aid to driving - you aren't meant to be watching them constantly and they certainly are not intended as gaming systems with super fast graphics.

I agree with Phil - if you have a route planned, it is perfectly adequate, although not quite as smooth as a TomTom (which kinda cheats), but without a route planned, it can appear to be running behind your actual location.

Ok sounds fine.

I presume I can just drive around with no route set , just use the unit to warn me of speed camera's or then to pick a POI and navigate to that?

One other thing, I note that you can choose a standard arrow as opposed to the trucks for the pointer (which is a good thing imo!).

One feature of my current GPS ( Medion 95900) is the arrows that tell you the direction of the next turn coming up. I notice the TT has this too.

Do the Nuvi's have this feature? If not how do you prepare yourself to go left/right e.g. on Motorways with multiple lanes?
