|
|
I am using TTN5.100 (5160) on an XDA IIi. When I display the speed (MPH) it is about 8mph behind my speedometer. ie. my car speedo says 70mph, TTN says 62mph.
How accurate is the speed on TTN?
Someone once told me that it is probably the car speedo that is wrong as manufacturers 'build in' the tolerance - which I find a little odd. More so as it seems to have been a similar problem for several versions of TTN in different cars over the years. |

I would totaly agree with this. If I put my cars dash into diagnostic mode i can get a digital readout of my speed which matches my Tom Tom displayed speed almost exactly. The needle on the speedo displays about 4-5 mph faster than both of these |

Lots of people ask this question, do a search for "speed" and you will find it discussed at great length.
The short answer is that most GPS units are accurate to within 0.1 MPH when travelling on flat ground at a steady speed and direction for more than a few seconds provided you have a good satellite fix. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Just to throw a spanner in the works - my tomtom 1 new edition reads about 1 mph higher than my ipaq 6915 with nav 6 software at any speed above 40mph!!!
Go figure. |
