Could I make a request, please, for a new file type for speed cameras?

I currently use the full set of files, which is starting to get a bit unwieldy. Most of the time, I'm not concerned about the type of camera, only its speed setting.

It would be very handy to have a set of files zoned just by speed, and nothing else. This would still give a useful warning and speed reminder, but drastically reduce the number of POI files to maintain.

Thanks

JB

You can make up the sets yourself using POI Edit

Just Open the first file for a certain speed, then Append all the others and save the combined result with the correct name to match your desired .bmp icon file..

As there are innumerable different combinations possible (eg I just split up the "Temp" file and add those to the various speed-zoned files) I don't think PGPSW can cater for every taste or the download would get even harder to prepare every time..

Yes, there are innumerable combinations, but I'm guessing this is one which a lot of people would find useful - more useful, perhaps, than grouping by camera type. At the end of the day, it's the speed that will decide whether an envelope drops through your door, not the type of camera...

Would the single file suit you better, it doesn't tell you what type of camera it is, as you requested, but it doesn't tell you the speed either, but as part of your driving routine, you should be aware of the speed limit for any road you are on, if you sat nav warns you of a speed camera, you just look at your speed, and make sure you are not over, thats what I do.

I see the point that is being made.

What would be great is a speed camera warning icon with the speed rating next to it. I am sure that I have seen this in some of the French speed camera warnings. I know that the bitmaps show the speed limit on the map if you download the full database but they are not always that easy to see if you are blatting along a road. If the speed rating of the camera came up next to the warning you could then check your speed against it and moderate it as necessary. I know that we should be aware of the speed limit on the road on which we are driving but its not always that easy. I am guessing that to do this would mean a huge database which is why it hasn't been done.

Nowt to do with the database, it's a feature not available to us in any manufacturers implementation of POI warnings.
