Quite a few of the phones are unable to transfer their contacts list to the tomtom unit, but I've found a way to get around this :D :D

Create a new .txt document and name it -

contacts

then add the entries like so :-

"Spark1e Mobile","078******00"
"Spark1e Home","01*******22"
"Spark1e Work","01*******55"

Make sure you get " & , in the correct places - "____","______"

Then copy the " contacts.txt " document to the root of your memory card and you'll find your new list in your Phonebook Entry :D :D

Will this work on a 700? If so what is the different since we don't have a memory card?

Not got a 700 to try it with, but I can't see any reason for it not to work. Try it and see - if it doesn't work just remove the contacts.txt file - if it does work post a reply here for others to see.

Thanks for the reply Keens7 :D
@ upstate, once you have made you list & put it on your TomTom then when you go to "Phone" then "Call" you can access your Phonebook Entry. And if the person calling you is in this phonebook it displays their details.

I've created a contacts.txt as described above. On my 500 I can use the phonebook to dial out or send a text but the name of the incoming caller is not shown for some reason.

I had this promlem also Jlee but my Tom Tom Would bring up the details of people that were calling if it had retrieved them from the phone it self, now i dont know why it should make a difference I just know that it does as the text file looks exactly the same.
Im stumped on this one, anyone out there got an answer as to why this is?
Nb Im using a Sony Ericsson 700i and 750i

So you got a 700i to retrieve them from the phone? I just couldn't get that to work. It kept saying something like 'phone not connected' after a while even though it was OK making and receiving calls.

CallerID forwarding seems to be a phone-based function, and not a TomTom (which is pretty passive in the whole process) one. If your phone cannot/will not forward CallerID data, then it'll be kinda touch and go.

Ditto for anonymous calling/number suppression, I've noticed.

Use note pad, word pad or word then use the save as option and select the file type .txt when you save your creation - Mike

Ok at the risk of sounding really dense, when you state to put the .txt file in thye root folder of the memory card, I assume that is teh memory card that came with the Tomtom??

I have just got a 710 for work and want to bluetooth my personal mobile to it but i have a n73 and the contacts are not supported. Is there any way to transfer the .txt file from my phone to teh tomtom without the use of a pc? or will i need to put the tomtom card into my pc to transfer the file?

TIA! :D
