I seem to remember pioneer made a single din sized stereo with C.E.2.0 built in. Does anyone know if a similar system is still available but based on a later operating system?
Will this be the next step (either forwards or backwards) for TT, etc - combining with stereo manufacturers to sell an in dash nav system with touch screen that runs tomtom or similar?
I've looked at the blaupunkt and beeker systems, the blaupunkt rome seems to be heading in the right direction http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/rome.asp |

Have a read of This TomTom have already announced this product, although its not a single DIN size device, there are some pictures of it Here
The one major dowside to most (but not all) in-dash systems is the lack of support for Custom POI, or POI Warning, so no speed camera warnings. Personally I don't like not being able to see the screen easily when driving, the in-dash systems require you to look down at the device - not the safest method. - Mike |

I agree, not the safest if you have to look down and to the side. Some vehicles have a display panel in the dash between the speedo and rev counter which is linked to the nav system. This displays an arrow indicating the next turn direction and a brief description - would take a competent installer to wire in unless it is already available as a plug and play sytem built in at first build like my VW. So if i get a vw mfd nav system I can fit this to my dash (double din size) and link in to the display. Gets epensive tho. |
