some details of the new tom tom DUO are on FCC website
looks like it will have some kind of socking station to play audio through car stereo,blutooth hands free phone calling and fm transmitter

I wouldn't get too excited, that's the Eclipse Double DIN ICE unit I blogged at CES, see here and here.

Basically it's a standard TomTom device that hard docks with a double DIN car stereo. The stereo isn't cutting edge and apart from having a TomTom slapped on the front it was all rather pointless IMHO. The internal photos show the docking connector for when interfacing with the stereo. It was US only and unlikely to be seen in Europe which given it's dated design is a blessing!

the physical shape looks different to any other tomtom i have come acroos.
back is more square

It may well be tomtom version of Eclipse

Eclipse are the ICE OEM's. TomTom manufacture the SatNav unit. I don't see any images in that last link?

Indeed it is technically a 'new' model but one that can only be obtained when purcahsed with the Eclipse car HiFi System. At CES in Vegas it looked like this was being offered to manufacturers only as a factory fit system option. The hardware is basically a ONE in a modified case with a docking connector on the rear for the interface with the HiFi.

The only other difference was that certain radio functions such as Radio Channel, CD Track etc were displayed on the TomTom's display. It was a novel idea in a rather uninspired design and Double DIN systems are much rarer on this side of the pond than they are in the US.
