I downloaded a map update on my TTGO 500 using Tomtom home and it was quite simple. All you neeed is your credit card. If you have a ONE have you not already got the latest maps?
With the latest TT software there is a limit of 100 POI categories although there does not seem to be any limit of individual POI's within each category. If you do not have the latest software you can download for free using TT home.

Just make sure you have a good fast broadband connection. It takes an hour or two to download. Dread to think what it would be like on dial-up!
Can I suggest you copy everything from your original card onto the new card first and make sure that works OK before you download the new map. Then you are only changing one thing at a time - makes troubleshooting easier IF something goes wrong!
Once it is all working on the new card, you can delete the UK map on just that card and then download the new one straight onto it. |

You will need to get it through HOME. It can also install it for you.
If you have a Card Reader, use that as it's quicker.;) _________________ Richard

Oldboy is talking about the map download - that does have to be done via Home.
But for the copying from the old card to the new card that I was talking about you should just use Windows Explorer to Select all / Copy / then Paste.
If you have a card reader you could use that as the transfer might be quicker, but it is perfectly OK to use the TomTom connected by USB. Just copy FROM the TomTom old card onto the PC hard-drive somewhere (Hey! you've just done your new backup! ) then swap cards and paste back onto the new card.
(Ensure you have all hidden files and folders showing just in case - (Windows Explorer, Tools menu / Folder Options / View tab) |
