Hi, I just bought me one of these devices & run into a spot of bother. I have been installing the updates & am now getting java OI out of memory messages from the device. A quick look at F:Garmin/ & i see alot of stuff that maybe i no longer need which will free up space?

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Yes, there are loads of things you can delete... but obviously BACKUP everything first!!
The \Garmin\Voice directory is a good place to start -unless you're multi-lingual you don't need all those voices. Their names are fairly obvious. Also, the firmware updates linger around long after they've been applied - the biggest being GUPDATE.GCD.

However-the error message you quote sounds more like a PC issue?. I didn't know the Webupdater used Java (the Garmin SpeedCamera updater does). Maybe a trip to http://www.java.com is in order? - Hit "Verify installation".

Hi & thanks indeed for the reply!

Your quite right it was actually the speed camera update interface that issued that error on that occasion.

Earlier though when i was given the option to applied specific updates in the webupdater it also told me i was out of space, probably due to me ticking everything in my eagerness to update the device Smile

I've now applied some rationale to my approach & have also delete some of those file you suggest which has solved the problem.

Whilst on the subject of the Garmin speed camera database the device only appears to give me notification on the banner at the top of the screen that i'm near to a camera, either fixed or mobile. It does actually identify it on the map itself though the screen image on the speed camera page on mygarmin i'm 99% sure shows a speed icon on the map next to the location. Have i missed a setting somewhere?

Initally this device is looking good with good support, though it's taking a while to learn new instructions have been a DestinatorND user for 2 years or more.
