|
|
Hello,
I'm need of some serious help!! Can someone explain how I create POI's?
What information do I need?
And what do I do with the info when I get it?
Do I need the GPS co-ordinates or the address of the location?
There are various list's that I would like to create, for example low bridges and roads with weight limits when I'm lorry driving. Then there are fire stations and certain supermarkets. I am very new to GPS, but I willing to learn!!
Thank you in advance :D |

Most of all you need the coordinates of the place. The address and phone number are not required, but they make some good extra information. In your case you may also want to include the bridge height and a detour recommendation etc.
There are plenty of tutorials around how to create POIs. What navigation program are you using? _________________ Lutz

I'm using CoPilot Live although I'll be upgrading to the new version when it comes out.
So what you are saying is that I would have to visit each location and note down the Long and Lat co-ordinates?
Is there not any website or company that I could contact that may have this nformation already??
Where can I find the POI tutorials??
Thanks for your help so far! |

Unfortunately that is what you'll have to do. We have a POI database online here for TomTom users, CoPilot have POI's available within their software, but with all software if you want to add your own POI's then you do need to record the Lat's and Long's and then manually add import them into CoPilot.
Some websites may have specific POI's like Camera shops, searching in Google for the name and POI may come back with something. |

I've been playing about this afternoon with putting postcodes into "Maporama" and getting the Longs and Lats from this. Is this method accurate? I've driven to the places and appears spot on??
would you rcommend this?? |
