|

Can a TomTom One be configured to receive PLUS services via Nokia 6230 on O2 PAYG?
Having trawled many forums giving conflicting information I can not find a definitive answer to this question. O2 and TomTom customer services refer me to each other although O2 have confirmed that PAYG does provide full internet GPRS, not just WAP GPRS.
If the answer is no then fine but if it is yes then what settings should I be using to manually configure my TomTom to connect to the Internet (APN/Username/Password/IP address/DNS Server Address/Dial/Login Script).
I should add that my TomTom connects via a Nokia 3650 on O2 Contract with no problems.
Any assistance to close this matter once and for all would be appreciated.
Many thanks

As far as I know you cannot use O2 PAYG with the TomTom system, I don't know why but there have been many people trying this and I have yet to find a thread where someone has found a way of doing it. Perhaps the O2 support were miss informed.
It does work fine with O2 on contract connection, have a read through THIS Thread which contains quite a bit of information on PAYG services that do work and related costs - Mike |

Many thanks for the comprehensive and very prompt information. Maybe O2 will catch up one day? Looks like I'm off to another provider!

Try Orange. It definately works on PAYG on my 6630. No manual setup required once paired with tomTom it automatically configured the connection. Don't forget to take advantage of the 30 day free TomTom traffic offer. _________________ Regards

Have you configured GPRS on the phone first? |

Having gone to the trouble of unlocking an Orange handset and buying an O2 PAYG SIM, I was advised by O2 tech support that O2 does not allow you to make a GPRS connection with a TomTom.
So I bought an Orange PAYG SIM (GPRS £4/mo for 4MB) and it works fine. |
