|
|
Hi,
I've been interested in buying a PDA sat nav system for a short while now and whilst researching I have recently noticed Halfords have started selling the Medion bundle which Aldi seem to have sold and a lot of you guys seem to rave about.
What I need to know is:
is this Halfords bundle the same as the Aldi one, i.e. will it perform as well as that one?
What are the differences between the two?
Is there a 'better' alternative at 400squid?
could i add in the speed camera database?
Any other general comments and feedback on this system would be greatly appreciated as i'm thinking of getting one in the next couple of days.
Thanks in advance for your help/advice/info!

Hi i also have the halfords pda, i think it is the same as the aldi kit except you only get 1 sd card instead of 2. You can also add a speed camera database using poi-warner, something which i have done and it works brilliantly, alerting me to all speed cameras in my area and even telling me if im exceeding the speed limit for the particular camera!!!!
well worth £400 in my opinion |

It may be worth checking your local Aldi as some branches still have bundles in stock. As they're cheaper and come with 2 x 256MB cards it's a better dea. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cheers Darren, i'll pop down to Aldi tomorrow i didn't realise they might still have some! Fingers crossed!
I'll let u guys know if they have more than one so if anybody else (manchester based or willing to travel!) wants one then they can get one.

Just to let anyone who may be interested know, i've bought an Aldi system today from the didsbury, manchester branch.
The guy said he has two left so if anyone else wants one then that's the place you'll need to go if you're close enough.
:D

I am wanting to get one of these soon, and Aldi don't have any in stock. Should I spend the extra £50 at Halfords - or is having 2 SD cards a big advantage I should hang-out for and wait for Aldi to maybe get some more? |

I'd buy now, it is still good value and an extra 256MMC card would cost you less than £35. You don't need one unless you desire full UK Street level coverage, a single 256MMC gives either South and Midlands or North and Midlands or you can wipe it and install only those areas that you wish to use. _________________ Darren Griffin |
