Can someone please give this dumb newbie a step by step guide on how to download poi's and install them using TT Home, i.e. what folder do I download to. As I say a dummies guide would be nice. Many thanks Paul
PS I have a Tom Tom Go 700. |

Home does not "like" third-party POIs (only ones downloaded from TomTom's own website).
However it is very easy to install them manually.
When you download a POI file from the internet, the downloaded file will probably be a .zip archive. If so, unzip it to produce the .ov2 and .bmp files (eg supermarkets.ov2 and supermarkets.bmp). If you have Win XP, you can unzip by right-clicking on the file and saelecting "extract all". If you have an earlier version, you will need a program like 'Winzip' to do the same job.
Then connect up the TomTom to the PC and using Windows Explorer, copy the .ov2 and .bmp files that you've just unzipped, and paste them into the map folder on the TomTom's hard drive (called something like "Western_Europe-Map").
Then, once you've disconnected the TomTom and allowed it to re-boot, they should appear on the TomTom's "Enable/Disable POI categories" menu. |

Many thanks Andy. I was wondering about TT Home because the POI's here seem to have a "Home" category with the OV2 one. But I'll stick with the manual method. Thanks again. |

AFAIK, there IS an option for a "Home" version of the speed camera database, but not for the other POIs from THIS PAGE |
